Thanks
to Linus Pauling’s pioneering work, Vitamin C is easily the most
well known and recognized of all the vitamins needed by the
human body. A water soluble vitamin that’s also known as

The
Nurses’ Health Study showed that women under 60 years of age
who have high intake of Vitamin C or had used vitamin C
supplements for ten years or more had significantly lower
incidence of cataracts.

preventing age related macular degeneration, a leading cause
of vision loss in older adults.
Because studies have shown that diabetics often have low
levels of vitamin C, doctors recommend that those who have
diabetes or pre-diabetes take supplements of vitamin C to
help the body process glucose and insulin.
Possible Side Effects of Vitamin C
At high
doses, vitamin C may cause diarrhea, stomach upset and gas.
Those with kidney disease should check with a physician before
taking large doses of vitamin C as well. Vitamin C may
interfere with drugs used in treating cancer, therefore it is
suggested that those undergoing chemotherapy consult a doctor
before beginning a course of treatment with vitamin C
